Unit: Build a Bridge

Unit: “Build a Bridge”

The “Build a Bridge” unit engages students aged 15-16 in an 8-hour interdisciplinary project integrating mathematics, arts, architecture, and physics. The primary objective is to design and construct the strongest bridge using paper, cartons, and rope. Students will learn about spatial awareness, surface and volume calculations, and the principles of force and pressure. They will study real and famous bridges, use Tinkercad for 3D modelling, and build prototypes. The unit emphasises teamwork, creativity, and practical application of scientific and mathematical concepts. Activities include designing, building, testing, and evaluating the bridges, fostering problem-solving skills and understanding architectural principles.
