Unit: From Volume to Density

Unit: “From Volume to Density”

The “From Volume to Density” unit engages 6th-grade students in a 540-minute interdisciplinary project integrating mathematics, science (physics), IT/technology, and art. The primary objective is to understand the relationship between volume and density. Students will progress from constructing a square meter area to building a cubic meter volume using paper cubes. They will explore the concept of density by creating a cubic meter space and increasing its density through physical activities. The unit emphasises teamwork, creative design, and practical application of scientific concepts. Activities include measuring, drawing, constructing models, and converting units of density, fostering a comprehensive understanding of spatial relationships and density.
