Unit: “Beyond Sight – Exploring Geometry and Art Through the Senses”
The “Beyond Sight – Exploring Geometry and Art Through the Senses” unit engages 8th-grade students in an 18-hour interdisciplinary project integrating art, mathematics, biology, and geography. The primary objective is to explore geometry and art through sensory experiences other than sight. Students will engage in blindfolded drawing, folding origami, constructing with LEGOs, and creating tactile boards. They will also work on block printing, relief printing, and documenting their experiences in a visual journal. The unit emphasises teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, and understanding the importance of sensory perception in learning, fostering empathy and inclusivity.
