Unit: Rosette Windows

Unit: “Rosette Windows”

The “Rosette Windows” unit engages students aged 13-15 in a 360-minute interdisciplinary project that integrates mathematics, informatics, history, and art. The primary objective is to explore the geometric elements in Gothic architecture, specifically rosette windows. Students will identify and analyse these structures, recreate them using GeoGebra software, and model them with plasticine or 3D printing. The activity emphasises understanding geometric concepts such as circles, arcs, and tangents and applying these in dynamic geometry. It also fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and the practical application of mathematical principles in art and architecture, culminating in creating educational posters and models.
